Chapter : Last Sunday

Since in my previous blog entry I have stated that I would start doing some photo blogging but not really that often because it depends whether I do remember to bring my camera and be all trigger happy to take pictures on every single thing I do. I respect the people who have the determination to take pictures to continue their photo blog. I guess I’m more of the “text” person, typing loads of words making people who read my blog getting an eye sore.

Anyway, last Sunday, I joined Patrick and Min Wye and also their friends, John and Arthur, twin brothers for dim sum. Well, at first I was reluctant to go because the previous night I stayed up late just to complete my animatics since I would be going out for a mooncake party the next night. But nevertheless, I just ignored my tiredness and sleepiness and joined the for morning dim sum! And it was yummy, though not as yummy as the dim sum’s in Malaysia.

The sky was really lovely that morning; you don’t get to see a sky so blue back in Malaysia.

Isn't it lovely?

While fiddling with my camera in the car, thinking that this would be my first photo blog entry I decided to be all trigger happy to take pictures and decided to take a picture of my two housemates.

Jessie the stalker takes pictures of Patrick and Min

Upon arriving at our destination, the first dim sum place we were suppose to go was at Sunny Park somewhere in Sunnybank. I never had been into that restaurant before because the first time when they brought me, it was closed for renovation. When it reopened, I never expected for it to be so pack!

Look at that line!

People were actually waiting for hours just to get a table and also they were holding ticket numbers waiting anxiously for their number to be called. When we arrived there, the number we had was 70 something and I caught a glance of the number being called, and it was 40 something…I think.

Well, instead of focusing on the crowded place, something interesting caught my eye.

The king of crabs!

Have you seen such a HUGE crab? I have not. I really wanted to eat it because of its size and assuming that it would be superbly delicious if it was cooked in butter and curry…butter curried crab. Yum! My mouth is salivating already!

We decided to leave the place and head off to another dim sum place in Sunnybank. It was the Manors.

Before leaving to the Manors, Patrick was laughing at something amusing. This was the reason why.

Read the sign and you might understand why.

It meant for small cars, but I guess this person literally took it seriously.

When I entered the restaurant, I barely said a word and held up my hand showing there were five people including me that would be sitting at a table. Sadly enough, the waiter immediately spoke to me in Cantonese which reminds me of my days when I was studying back in The One Academy. Walking around in the mall and random tourists would come up to me and ask for directions either in Mandarin or Cantonese and I wouldn’t be able to reply and I would answer their questions in English instead. They just looked at me funny and run away. Such courtesy, don’t you think so?

I have been to the Manors before for late night supper I can recall with the rest of my housemates. The environment is very different from the dim sum place back in Malaysia though. If you recall back in Malaysia, people walking around holding trays and approaching your table and asks what dim sum you want and such but here, they don’t. Instead, they plop down a menu in front of us and we order by ticking a piece of paper.

Inside the Manors

The people that came for dim sum

I totally forgotten to take pictures of the food because I was busy eating them all. Well, the boys were talking about their stuffs so I decided to focus on shoving food down my throat. No wonder I have gained so much weight. It’s depressing. Anyway, I managed to take a picture of my plate after my meal.

Thank you for the meal!

Patrick asked me to put some food inside the Tupperware because he wanted to bring some lunch for my sister. It was all steamy because the food was hot and the little red colour thing on top of it was supposed to be let the steam “out”. It doesn’t seem to be working and I felt that the food will be all soggy from all the steam. My poor sister, she gets to eat soggy dim sum.

Soggy dim sum

After that, my camera died so I didn’t take any pictures after our breakfast. We went to visit my sister where she worked and I bought some lovely eye shadows! One was the purple shade, one was bluish-grey and the other is brown. we also went to Yuen’s market to get some groceries and I was dropped off at home to get ready for to meet up with my friends for mooncake party!

That somewhat summarized my Sunday and photo blogging seriously takes a lot of effort! I had to resize the picture because I didn’t want it to be so massively huge and taking up all the space and had to arranged them according to order because I uploaded it all in one page and it took me some time to moved them to their respective order.

Oh well, I seriously need to exercise now because I realized that my stomach is huge and when I bend my head down to look at my shoes, I feel a double chin. I’m chubby! I’m so going to lose weight now. Maybe starving myself and when I’m feeling faint, I would consume a cube of cheese! That line was so ripped off from the movie, Devil wears Prada. But heck, I wouldn’t be starving myself to that extend! Sheesh, I love my junk food and food itself! Damn. When I return to Malaysia, I would be a size of a tiny blimp. Meep!

Chapter : Late Entry

I must say that I’m getting really lazy in updating my blog. Well, nothing really exciting happens to me these days so there is really nothing for me to write about. The only thing that happens was my 21st birthday and that was a blast! I had loads of fun and tons of presents and little red packets. Anyway, I was sick for the past 2 days and it was nasty. All I could do was lie in bed, sleep and get up to drink some water and sleep some more. I literally felt like a pig. I had no appetite to eat at all so I forced some food down my throat to avoid getting gastric. But I’m feeling better now, proven that I can actually type an entry for my blog now. Things in university are alright I guess I’m mostly in the 2nd year classes and one in the 1st year classes. I don’t really like the 1st year subject I’m doing because I have no idea how to do it nor understand the entire subject is about. We are suppose to be reading the visual of a certain image and interpret it how we look at the visual or something like that. It is really hard to do since the lecturer said there isn’t right or wrong in this class. Well, I guess it is suppose to be easier since there isn’t right or wrong…right? I’m confusing myself.

Oh! Well, I have gotten a lot of cool stuffs from my 21st birthday! It was really awesome! Well, my boyfriend gave me a PSP slim!! One of the coolest gifts ever! Well, it was an amusing thing when he gave it to me because when he gave it to me; I was in awe and didn’t bother opening it because I was like a PSP SLIM IN MY HAND!!! So yeah, but he was disappointed though because he said that his plan fail because I didn’t notice that the PSP itself wasn’t inside the box. I was oblivious to it as usual. But he wanted a PSP himself but he spent all his money just to get me one because I wanted one. I felt so bad to the extent that I wanted to hide myself in the corner and grow mushrooms for eternity.

Anyway, moving on…I can’t remember when but it happen months back and I told Jin about it.

I was on the train back home and I was busy playing my PSP and was standing next to a young married couple talking to an elderly guy which I assumed is their close friend. They were talking about how men when they make a mistake they will always say the three “godly” words and there are always in order.

  1. I’m sorry.
  2. Please forgive me.
  3. I love you.

I nearly laughed my head off because the young guy (the husband) said, “Since our wives know about it, we could just save time and go 1, 2, and 3.”

His wife replied, “If he says that, he is going to be sleeping on the couch.”

I found it so amusing and strangely true when I was telling this little story to Jin because whenever he makes a mistake he would say that in the EXACT order. Then he decided to change it a little because he wanted to be different and unique…but I can’t really remember but I’m thinking it goes like this

  1. I apologize.
  2. I beg for your forgiveness.
  3. I worship you. (or was it I worship the ground you step upon)

I have no idea because I started laughing because deep in my mind, I rather go for the non-extravagant words. I realized that my blog is constantly filled with words and I was planning that one day I might just add pictures of the daily life I live here in Brisbane. Who knows, maybe it would be interesting to see pictures instead of words once in a while, right?

Chapter : Finally!

I slept around 10 something in the evening and just woke up around 2 in the morning. Now I’m sure that I won’t be able to sleep till Gods know what time in the morning. Well, I can’t help it since my sleeping orders are pretty screwed up. I get up at odd hours in the wee morning and couldn’t sleep till odd hours in the afternoon, sometimes none at all and that isn’t good for my body and complexion. Seriously, I think that’s why my complexion is getting from bad to worse. Well or maybe just that I’m getting older and my face just decides to touch “puberty” and start sprouting pimples from all over the place. Doesn’t help that I’m also trying to heal the scars I have obtained on my nose because I had a skin “reaction” where it just break out in red spots and it really felt like sunburn and my skin was so dry that it was peeling off like snake skins hence the scar because it caused it to become an open wound.

Oh well, I guess this is just a process of growing up where you will receive hellish stuffs that would happen to your complexion…or maybe it is just me because my sister’s face is like really clear and almost flawless. I envy her skin complexion. The only thing that I “triumph”’ over my sister is that I have a skinnier body and thus, am able to fit in most clothes while on the other hand that I wouldn’t be able to wear her clothes because it is too loose on me. I never had perfect skin complexion to begin with and also having nice flawless, scar-less skin on my body but I chose to live with it somehow but just not having enough confidence to actually wear a skirt or shorts because fear of exposing my hideous legs. I’m always envious with people with perfect skin on their body; I swear to you, I’m like always thinking that they bath in milk to achieve such skin!

Anyway, I’m flying off today around midnight or so and will be arriving in Malaysia in the morning. I’m so ecstatic that I think I won’t be able to sleep till I’m on the plane or something but before leaving, there are so many things that I have to do.

THINGS TO DO BEFORE LEAVING

  1. Wash the bed sheets, pillow cases and blanket cover
  2. Clean and vacuum the room
  3. Clear out the thrash in the room
  4. Throw any food remnants
  5. Check suitcase to see whether I have brought enough stuffs
  6. Pack my laptop and big hard drive
  7. Recharge my Malaysian phone and Australian phone
  8. Recharge my Archos portable player

Well, I can’t think of anything else at the moment because my mind is so focused that I would be flying home soon. After the long wait of “suffering” the cold here, I can finally bask myself in the warm climate that I actually miss! Not only that, I would be able to eat all the food that I want to eat! I pity Jin because whenever we video call on Skype, I keep telling him that I see him, I see Malaysian food written all over him. I keep muttering things like, “prawn mee, hokkien mee, pan mee, banana leaf, popiah …” which actually doesn’t help because it just made me even hungrier.

Sylvia told me today that she decided to further her studies to Australia which made me really happy because I know that she won’t be alone and I’m able to guide her through the process here and also telling her what to do and what not. It is really very exciting and I can’t wait for her to arrive next year! Though I would be ending my semester during the year she arrives but I guess I could work for a while for half a year or so. Who knows? I need to get some experience and cash anyway. So many things, I can’t wait! I’m flying home soon and my best friend is also coming to Australia and study!

Chapter : Almost

I just had to post something up because well, it is something I would like to say “celebrate”. Let’s just say that I have officially completed all my assignments and handed them up. Well, the most important ones I must say. I have been awake two nights in a row just to complete my animation project blocking which I later found out that most of my classmates didn’t even complete blocking but just test animation which leads me to utter dismay because Kelsie and I stayed up till 7am just to rush our blocking which we could have just done the test animation which allows us to grab some SLEEP. Guess that is one thing we must say, oh well. What is done is done.

So what’s left for me to hand up is my long composition which is also known as memory drawing which I have just completed it few minutes ago because I couldn’t sleep and technically I slept at the wrong time and woke up at the wrong time thus I decided to do my assignment since I’m wide awake. Does that even make sense? It is 7.04am now so I apologize if my entry this time seems really long winded. That particular assignment is due this Wednesday at 9.15am and well, I’m glad that I have managed to complete that one. Another assignment that I have to have up is the WIL project thing which all I have to do now is type a journal entry on what I have to do which I hope to be really easy because I don’t really know the format to do so. Should I type it like a professional blogger or just type it as me?

Anyway, after all that I’m officially free and am able to do whatever I want! I can’t wait nor I can’t wait till I return back to Malaysia so I can eat all the food that I crave for! Seriously, winter here does a lot of things to you, you eat more without realizing that you are putting on weight till you start to feel your clothes getting all snug and tight then only it comes to your senses that you have been pigging out way too much! It happened to me, so yeah. Talking from experience here! I keep saying that I would slowly lose the weight but it is really hard because winter is extremely cold and it burns my fats away and causes me to be extra hungry really fast so therefore, I tend to eat more which is not good.

On the other hand, I came to realize that I have spend way too much than usual which is not good because my dad gave me a certain amount of cash for me to survive the entire year but unfortunately, I failed to do so. Thank god that I’m not doing accounts or anything that do with money because I’m really hopeless in it. But on the other hand, if it comes to saving, I know how to do it because half the time I would be starving myself and make sure I don’t spend anything on food and wait till I reach home and start eating which rarely happens because at times when I reach home, there isn’t any food to eat so I just stay hungry until dinner or buy something to eat at least because I could feel myself weakening and probably going to faint on the ground.

Hopefully that I would manage to save this time round because I’m not going to classes since the only thing left is to hand up the assignments and also I don’t go out to watch movies because I have no choice but to save money or hang out with my friends for that matter. Damn, I feel so bad for turning down their invitations at times. Guess I can’t help it when your dad gives you a certain amount of cash which you have to learn how to save and spend. It doesn’t help that my art supplies is expensive and I had to pay for other stuffs for university which weren’t included in the fees.

20 more days before I return back to Malaysia. I can’t wait! My mom said that I would be busy preparing for my party which I’m more than happy to do it because I can go shopping to find something nice to wear for my party and well, spend time with my best friends! The only thing that I don’t look forward too is calling the people asking them whether they can make it to the party or not. At times, I just feel that I shouldn’t even have a party because it is so troublesome. I would rather celebrate it once with family and another with friends and that would conclude my birthday. Simple, don’t you think? Rather than planning a party to fit hundreds of people to see one measly person to celebrate her 21st birthday.

Chapter : Loneliness

It is really late and I couldn’t sleep at all because I had a long nap at the wrong time. I think if I’m not mistaken, I took my nap around 4 something in the afternoon and I woke up just in time to help my house mate preparing dinner. I feel so lethargic these few days and I don’t really know the reason why. Partially it is because I have been staying up late to complete my assignments because the datelines are due and half of it is I just don’t know the reason why. I tend to sleep way often than usual. I do stay up late doing work but then the next day I would just take my naps either way too long or too often. For instance, I would sleep around in the afternoon and wake up to take my bath and just go back to sleep again. I feel like a pig whenever I do that but I couldn’t help myself because my eyes tend to close against my will.

I am supposed to be happy because it is my 7th anniversary with my boyfriend but I am trying to pick a fight with him on his smoking habits. I guess something is wrong with me these few days. I am trying to find every single reason to be upset with my boyfriend even though he has been trying so hard to be there for me. Though I have to admit that he wasn’t there when I needed him the most and I can’t blame him because well, I can’t expect him to be there all the time. Eventually, I have learnt to handle things my own way, taking the stress and problems into my own account and trying to work things out by myself.

I guess one of the reasons I’m picking a fight with him about his smoking habits is because I tend to have certain “qualities” in my boyfriend? I’m not too sure about myself because I remember saying that I wouldn’t date someone who is younger or who smokes but yet the irony is that I am dating someone who is younger than me and who smokes. I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on him on that account because he started smoking before he met me and forcing him to quit abruptly would just cause him to retaliate and I don’t want that to happen. But in the end, I would just have to give up. I’m getting tired telling him to stop smoking or to stop drinking. I worry so much. I care too much yet I know he stills does it. In the end, I have to let it go. Let him do whatever he wants.

I think all these months spending my days alone have turned me really numb. I’m afraid that I will forget what’s like to hang out with people. What does it feel like to actually be with people I could just sit down and let go. I’m beginning to forget these feelings. Turning down invitations to hang out with friends because of assignments or sometimes just so I could be in front of the computer hoping to see my own boyfriend online. Have I become that lonely I wonder myself? I really don’t know. Half of my time is spend wandering in the library looking for books to read or walking around the mall looking at clothes which I know that I wouldn’t be able to get because I have to save money. Sitting down in the food court and eating alone while reading the book that I have borrowed and observing my surroundings seeing people either with friends, loved ones or families.

I guess I have to learn to stop crying. Learn to be numb to the point that I will not cry. Learn not to be hurt. At least this way, I wouldn’t have to cry myself to sleep and wake up the next morning with swollen eyes. At least I could face the day with a bright cheerful face without having to fake it. I’m getting tired with myself. I’m getting tired with loneliness. I’m getting tired with crying. Less than 29 days before I return, but during that 29 days what will become of me? How many nights have I cried myself to sleep? How many nights I have longed to be kissed? How many nights do I have to spend my nights alone in front of the computer longing to look at the person I love yet he isn’t there? At times I regret furthering my studies because, if I didn’t come here, I wouldn’t be facing these problems. I guess tonight is another night where my pillow is wet from my tears.

Chapter : Blank Mind

My mind is blank, I have no motivation to do my assignments yet I’m restless. I don’t know why but I just couldn’t sleep even though I’m tired nor am able to actually play a game to pass my leisure time. Something is wrong with me, is it the stress that I’m suffering? Oh it is just the weather that is making me feel restless? I have no idea. I have come to a conclusion that in my past life, I was a reptile because my body temperature follows my surroundings. If I’m covered in a blanket, all nice and warm, I would feel way too hot later then when I decided throw the blanket off and feel the cool winter chill, my body temperature immediately feels cold. The irony is that I don’t even like reptiles because they give me the chills.

Anyway, I have managed to draft out my game proposal and submitted to my lecturer to read it before actually handing it up. Not only that, my sound group project is progressing well as we have managed to add it all the sounds we have and mixed them all together plus managed to get a feedback from our tutor telling us to correct certain parts in our sound and giving us advices on how to make our sounds fit the movie better. Alex, the tutor taught us an interesting thing which is how to make the sounds coming from the television. It is an extra bonus point for us because we now have finally found the solution to overcome that problem.

I wanted to start writing on my research essay and I happened to stumble upon the term, Ludology vs Narratology. I realized that these terms actually fit what I actually wanted to convey in my research essay but I am worried whether my lecturer would approve of it. He told me that I should focus on the differences between narrative and non-narrative games and finding out the best selling games and why they are the best sellers. Come to think of it, I felt that the terms that I have found somewhat fits and I was hoping that I would be able to use it in my essay. I just have to wait for my lecturer to reply my mail or probably see him on Monday and pester him about it.

I really should stop writing about my progression of my assignments or thoughts on it because I feel it is getting really boring, don’t you think?

Ever since staying here in Australia, I have realized that my trips to the toilet are way more often compared when I was staying in Malaysia. I haven’t really found the exact reason why but I did manage to come up with fairly few conclusions. There are:

  • My iron stomach isn’t so strong anymore. Probably turned into rust or something.
  • Back in Malaysia, the food is so dirty that I have developed a strong immunity to eating contaminated food but upon reaching here, it started to fade away.
  • Australia food is really clean to the extend with a fleck of a dust contaminating the food I eat resolves into daily trips to the loo.
  • The food that I consumed at home doesn’t go well with my digestive system.
  • My stomach have decided to live on air alone and thus rejecting all sort of food that I have consumed

It is pretty dangerous to have constant tummy aches these few weeks because I have datelines to rush and well, I don’t want to spend endless nights sitting inside the toilet with the laptop prop onto my lap typing my essays away. Well, it that do happen, remind myself to take a picture of me doing that.

A friend gave me a link to watch on YouTube and it was about this little person who nicknamed himself as KevJumba. He is pretty famous in the YouTube community because of the videos that he makes. Technically, it is about him talking or doing some stuff that it is pretty hilarious and interesting. One of the videos that he posted which is called the staring contest which he challenged Jessica Alba to do it. Surprisingly enough, she actually took that challenged and beat him to it. It is really cool. Well, that little kid have managed to make a name for himself by posting videos about him, or something like that. If you interested to find out who is that he or want to watch his videos, just Google it. Remember, Google is your best friend.

Then it got me thinking, people who are famous these days are mostly talent spotted from the web. Like Coby (I can’t remember her last name) she was from YouTube or that girl who sang “I fell in love with the DJ”, she was spotted from MySpace. I can’t remember her name either. I’m hopeless with names but I do manage to recall faces. Well, never underestimate the power of the web. It can do wonders without you realizing. Don’t you agree?
